Composition :
Hydroxyzine hydrochloride 10 mg and 25 mg
Availability :
- Strip of 10 tablets.
- Such 12 strips in a box.
Therapeutic Category :
Mode of Action :
Hydroxyzine Hydrochloride is Antihisatamine
(Antiallergic). The antihistamine binds with
the receptors of mast cells which holds the
histamine and controls the release of
histamine and thus takes care of further
allergic reaction caused by the histamine
Clinical Benefits : For use in the management of pruritus due
to conditions such as:
- Acute and chronic urticaria
- Atopic dermatitis
- Scabies
Dosage :
Depending upon age and severity of symptoms :
- Adults 25 mg 3 or 4 times a day.
- Children under 6 years
- 50 mg daily in divided doses.
- Children above 6 years
- 50 – 100 mg daily in divided doses.
Adverse Reactions :
- Patient with hypersensitivity to Hydroxyzine hydrochloride should be administered PRU with caution.
- This caution is also applies when the drug is administered in conjunction with central nervous system depressants such as narcotics, non-narcotics, barbiturate.
- Hydroxyzine should not be given to nursing mother. It is contraindicated in early pregnancy.
- Hyper sedation with overdose.
- Dry mouth, Drowsiness may be seen.
